Getting Started

It takes courage to seek out therapy! I am accepting new clients (as of 4/20/24). The first step to get started is to email kimstetsoncounseling@gmail.com, submit a Contact form, or schedule a 20-minute free video consultation. During the consultation session we’ll get to know each other and you’ll have the opportunity to talk through your goals for therapy and let me know how I can best support you on your healing journey.

I will evaluate your needs based on your history and current concerns. Next, we will develop and discuss a treatment plan to match your needs. We will review progress and outcomes along the way. My goal is to help you gain a clear understanding of your values, interests, skills, strengths, and requirements for moving forward to live the fullest life you can imagine.

Treatment Approaches

My approach to counseling is client-centered, collaborative, relational and feminist. The therapeutic approaches I incorporate are EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing (MI), with a focus on trauma processing, “parts work,” self-compassion, emotional regulation and distress tolerance, and developing healthy coping skills.

Fees & Insurance

Individual therapy fee: 55-minute individual therapy sessions (virtual and/or in-person) are billed at a rate of $150, with payment due at the time of session by credit card.

Insurance billing: I am in-network with PacificSource and Moda, and can bill them directly. For all other health insurance, I can provide you with a superbill to seek partial reimbursement using out-of-network benefits. Please call your insurance company directly to determine your eligibility for out-of-network benefits.

Please be aware I am required to provide a mental health diagnosis to your insurance company should you choose to use those benefits. If you are uncomfortable with having a diagnosis, please discuss this with me. You have the option to pay for services out of pocket and not involve your insurance company.

Appointments & Cancellations

Virtual and in-person sessions are available in my SE Portland office during daytime hours during the week. I do not offer evening or weekend sessions. Please notify me within 24 hours by calling my confidential voicemail number (971) 303-8650 if you need to cancel your appointment. All appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a “No Show/Late Cancel” fee of $135 regardless of insurance benefits. Three “No Show/Late Cancellations” within a 60-day time period will result in termination of therapy.
